The Space Research Group consists of an integrated group of researchers from the fields of science and technology within Alcalá University.

Their joint gives the group a lot of potential and covers both the scientific and technological aspects in:

- Advice on space technologies.

Embedded System for Developing Real-TIme Applications (SEDATIR)

What we offer:
Space Research Group from Alcalá University has developed a technology for developing and testing real-time applications embedded in an external platform. It is a research and development tool, whose objective is to provide of necessary and basic functionality for analysis, scheduling and development of real-time embedded applications.

The system provides a Man Machine Interface (MMI) running on a PC under Linux or Windows operating system in order to interact, monitor and configure via a serial link, a real-time application embedded in an external platform. SEDATIR is mainly composed of two separate blocks:
- The Man Machine Interface (MMI)
- The operative block in charge of managing the whole functionality associated to MMI.

If SEDATIR is used in the Engineering department of a company, it would contribute to the following competitive advantages:
- Temporary reduction of the development phase.
- Cost reduction.
- Better quality and reliability of the developed real-time system.
- The development team would exclusively have to worry about the specific development of the real-time application based on independent and synchronized tasks, without managing and scheduling the available hardware resources, since this work would be done by the real-time operating system generated by SEDATIR.

What we are looking for:
The group looks for technical cooperation and commercials agreements with companies.
The group also offers the technical consultation of concrete requirements and the technical development of tests and training necessary to adapt the technology to the necessities of the company. Also, the later maintenance of engineering that needs the applied technology, giving technical attendance to the product, on the part of the company, after its commercialization.

The group is also interested in finding partners for R&D regional or national calls and European Projects as well.

Intelligent agent to perform optimal control and motion planning in non-linear dynamic systems.

What we offer:
The result achieved by the Space Research Group (SRG) of the University of Alcalá has been to have available a novel system, which is scientifically based and integrates computational techniques concerning dynamics systems and intelligent learning schemes. The goal is to design efficient optimal control algorithms in order to be applied to any non-linear dynamic system. The result of the investigation has been used first, for performing optimal motion planning in experimental mobile platforms demonstrating its applicability in industrial environments, and second, for attitude control in satellites inside a space environment.

If the new optimal control algorithm is used in the Engineering department of a company, it would contribute to the following competitive advantages:
- Innovating in the field of control engineering applied to non-linear dynamic systems.
- Offering the best solution currently available in the market with respect to optimal motion planning and satellite attitude control.
- Reducing maintenance costs of the controlled systems due to the implementation of an optimal control. The life cycle of the systems is extended.

What we are looking for:
The group looks for technical cooperation and commertial agreements with companies.

New technology for Air Traffic Management.

What we offer:
The Space Research Group from Alcalá University has designed a new system based on optimal control technology for Air Traffic Management (ATM). The new approach is mainly characterized by its adaptability capacity in situations where there are more than two aircrafts.

The developed technology can be applied to aircrafts in order to perform an Air Traffic Management (ATM) is cost-effective and robust against changes in the environment or in physic structure of the platform. One of the pillars of the new technology is the lack of mathematical models for the performance of control and, instead, it uses the experience gained through interaction with the environment, the platform and communication with other aircrafts.

What we are looking for:
Potential collaborations with international/national research centres and companies interested in applying the technology are sought.

- Know-how of this solution is based on a deep understanding of the scientific and technological basis involved. The technology is scientifically based and integrates computational techniques concerning dynamics systems and intelligent learning schemes.
